This week we were very excited with the arrival of the Bee-Bot set in the kindergarten. Thank you again to one of our parents for trekking out to Pasing to pick it up for us 😊. The children have had so much fun this week playing with the Bee-Bots and learning how to program them to move in different directions and to different destinations. We also incorporated language skills by declaring where the Bee-Bots would travel to or how they would move. “I will go to the lake” said one child. “I will go straight two times and then turn right to reach the tree” said another. The children learnt a lot about directional phrases and the difference between left and right. It was a lot of fun! 😊

As we have started our new theme of Autumn this week, the children had time for exploring Autumn materials through various crafts. They threaded chestnuts into necklaces, and leaves into cardboard to make trees. They had counting exploration with the chestnuts and letter matching. It is always exciting to discover how many uses the chestnuts have for natural material exploration.

In English the children read the story “Leaf Man” by Lois Ehlert and they investigated the shapes of different leaves and then had a creative exploration to make their own leaf people. The children also practiced their song review and learnt the new song “The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow”.

In German the Preschool children had their Preschool lessons where they engaged in literacy exploration to extend their German languages skills and critical thinking. Followed by interactive group activities to support team spirit, cognitive thinking and concentration. Each week the children will engage in such activities in preparation for school. In German morning circle, all the children learnt the song “Der Herbst ist da” and listened to the song “Der Luftikus” where they made note of the differences in musical tone (fast or slow, loud or quiet).

At MTV the children engaged in an obstacle course with jumping, hopping, skipping and crawling as well as throwing and catching skills.
