This week we continued with our ‘Inside the Body’ theme and focused on the digestive system. In morning circle we learnt how our tongue detects different tastes. The children had the opportunity to take part in lots of different taste tests. The children also helped with an investigation showing the journey of food from our mouth, through the stomach and intestines. We talked about how the body absorbs the useful parts of the food to give us energy and help us grow. The children also helped to sort food into healthy and unhealthy and had a good understanding of which foods they should eat more of and which are ‘treats’.

At the forest, we worked in pairs practicing our measuring skills. The children found one or more sticks to equal the height of their partner. Then we used a meter stick to measure the length of the sticks.
