This week we had ‘hedgehogs’ as our theme. On Tuesday we walked around the Park collecting leaves and thin twigs which we brought back to Bubbles. We used the leaves to make a warm, cosy home for our hedgehog and we used the sticks to make very cute hedgehogs.
The children also had the opportunity to paint pictures of hedgehogs.
In morning circle we talked about where hedgehogs live, what they eat, how they curl up to protect themselves and that they hibernate over winter. We also sang a lovely song about hedgehogs.
The children also had the opportunity to drill holes in chestnuts and start to make a necklace or snake.
Our preschool focus this week was the letter ’D’. The children found objects that started with the letter.
