We hope you are all keeping well. Thank you for the feedback you sent us.

This week seems to have worked well, so we will set up similar activities next week. I think the WhatsApp videos are working well, so we will aim to add one WhatsApp video every day. These might be finger rhymes, stories or activity ideas. For those of you wanting someone for your child to talk to, please arrange this directly with your child’s friends.

This week we have started a theme ‘Flowers and Growing’. It has been lovely to see so many of you planting seeds and watching plants grow at home. A great story about growing seeds is ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen. Unfortunately I don’t have my own copy to read to you, but the lady in this video reads it nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRE88_fu0rs You might want to try planting your own bean seed and watch it grow, see if you can look after it as well as Jasper looked after his!

It is also a perfect opportunity to talk about the days of the week with your child. A good activity is to write each day (and date) on a piece of paper and take a photo when your child plants a seed. The next day look at the plant and take a photo. Repeat for every day. If you put the photos into one album that you can scroll through with your child they can see just how long it takes and discuss the way the plant changes as it grows.
