This week we were very busy, continuing our Diwali theme the children used air drying clay to make their own diya which they carefully painted with lovely bright colours. They also decorated a lovely song book for their parents. Continuing our preparations, the children made a paper boat and helped to make some yummy almond sweets following a traditional Indian recipe.

On Thursday afternoon we celebrated Diwali. It was lovely to have so many parents and grandparents to join us. During the celebration, the children performed their Diwali dance and sang songs. The children were very proud to share their posters with fantastic pictures that helped to tell the story of Diwali. They were very busy adding a wish to their paper boat and decorating some beautiful Rangoli patterns. After enjoying a tasty snack, we lit sparklers to finish the celebration.

On Friday morning the children took their boats, complete with wishes, to the Isar where we watched them float away.

With the pre-school children we learnt the letter ‘G’ and found objects that start with that letter.
