Newsletter 18.10.2019

In morning circle, we shared ideas about the themes we would like to learn about in kindergarten. These are displayed in the cloakroom.

We started our new theme, ‘Diwali’. The children listened to the story and learned about Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Ravana and Hanuman. The older children helped to draw some beautiful posters that tell the story of Rama and Sita.

During the week, children had the opportunity to make a beautiful paper lantern that we will display during our Diwali celebration. We also did some super dancing to a lovely Indian Diwali song.

In yoga, the children practiced the star poses. In music, we all started to learn two new songs for Diwali, ‘Diwali’ and ‘Little Candles’.

The preschool children learnt the letter ‘F’ and practiced reading and counting to 2.

Diwali Celebration

We will celebrate Diwali, a Hindu festival of light, with the children on Thursday 24th October at 14:30. During the celebration the children will perform a little dance and there will also be some lovely craft activities to complete with your child/children. We are looking forward to celebrating with you next week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Diwali

Pretty diyas, light up the place,

Rockets vanish without a trace.

Be it night or be it day,

It’s crackers, sparklers all the way.

Diwali is the festival of lights,

Filled with fun and happy sights.

The festival mood is in the air,

Let’s burst those crackers – but take care!

Diwali is that time of the year,

We visit friends both far and near.

Wearing all of our grandest clothes,

Diwali must come – twice a year!

Little Candles

There’s a little candle glowing in the night,

Helping to give us light.

If more little candles shone around the world,

They’d make it feel so bright
