This week we started a new theme about families. In our morning circle we talked about our own family. We thought about all the people who are part of our family. We also did lots of number work counting amounts up to twenty, recognising and ordering numbers. In our art work this week, we used stencils and our fingers to make pictures. We enjoyed using different colours and exploring how you can make new colours by mixing two or more colours together. A bit messy, but lots of fun! Hopefully we...

This week we have had lots of music sessions during our Morning Circle. We learnt a new song in German ‘Brüderlein, komm tanz mit mir‘, which involved lots of fun actions. Our new English song this week was ‘April Shower’ from the classic Disney film ‘Bambi’. We enjoyed using the glockenspiels to make the sound of raindrops as we sang. We also did lots of counting in English and German, recognising numerals to 10. We are practicing being able to say the number before and after any...

In our morning circle, we talked about the different areas in our Kindergarten. We shared some fantastic ideas about how we should play in the areas as well as some of the things we shouldn’t do. We played lots of colour matching and number games. This week we had our first music and Yoga sessions. We split the group into two smaller groups. One group did a music activity with Saga while the other group did a Yoga activity with Annie. We are hoping these sessions will continue on a weekly...

Spring is here! We have had a lovely week at Kindergarten and we were excited to see how much our plants had grown over the Easter holidays. We started to make some lovely plants practicing our threading with beads and cutting paper. In our morning circle, we continued our spring theme looking at how plants grow. We talked about how seeds are found inside fruit and these grow into new plants. This week we played a new game ‘Fruit Salad’. We learnt a new song in German, ‘Der Kuckuck und...

We had a lovely visit to the Botanical Gardens on Monday. It was really nice to see some of the buds and flowers that had started to grow. We were also really excited to see that our seeds in Kindergarten have started to grow. Now we just need to take care of them and remember to water them! In our morning circle, we sang our lovely Easter rhymes. We also did lots of counting and naming colours. Today we are all very excited for our Easter party this morning. If we are very lucky we might get a...

This week we continued with our Easter theme. Some children started to make Easter baskets, ready for our Easter celebration next week. The children enjoyed making papier mache bunnies, which we will paint next week. We also continued planting different seeds, but no signs of growth yet! In our morning circle, we learnt a new finger rhyme ‘Seht ihr auf dem grünen Rasen’ and an action rhyme ‘5 Little Bunnies’. We played I spy, linking letters to words and sequenced pictures to show how...

This week we started our Easter theme. In our morning circle, we thought about different animals and their babies. We talked about animals that hatch out of eggs. We also learnt about how plants grow from seeds. Our new song for this week was ‘Es geht eine Zipfelmütz'’. We started to decorate the Kindergarten ready for Easter with lovely bunnies and woven eggs made by the children. The children helped to plant some different seeds including flowers, herbs, soft fruit and vegetables....

This week we had a short theme about our teeth. In Morning Circle, we used a large model of teeth to talk about our teeth looking at the different types of teeth. We counted how many teeth there were and talked about when our ‘baby teeth’ fall out ready for our ‘adult teeth’ to grow. Using a giant toothbrush, we decided it was very important to brush our teeth properly: front, back and behind, as well as brushing our gums and tongue. On Thursday we started brushing our teeth after...

This week we continued with our ‘Transport’ theme. We braved the weather on Monday and had a bus ride to the Verkehrs Museum. Once at the museum we were given a very interesting guided tour. The children were shown different exhibits and learnt about how bikes, cars, trams and trains have changed over the years. We then had the opportunity to explore the museum ourselves and particularly enjoyed climbing on and off the trucks, trams and trains. Well worth another visit in the future! On...

This week we continued with our ‘Transport’ theme. In our morning circle, we shared a book about cars and found out that a long time ago people didn’t have cars! We also talked about the pictures spotting how cars have changed over the years. We used the road mat to follow directions, moving our cars along the roads to the parking places. We started to find out about trains. We used a large cardboard box to make a train big enough for us to sit in. We also learnt a famous poem by Robert...
