This week our theme was, ‘St. Martin’s’. In morning circle we shared a story about St. Martin. We also practiced all our songs including two new English songs; ‘Tiny Lanterns’ and ‘Sparkling Lights’, and a German song ‘Sankt Martin’. This week our theme was, ‘Sharing’. We talked about ways we can share and how it makes us feel when people share with us. In morning circle we played some rhyming games, matching pictures that rhyme. This week our theme was, ‘Autumn’. In morning circle, we looked at different leaves and described their colours, sizes and shapes. We used them to help our counting and matching numbers to 10. We sang two new songs: ‘Der Herbst ist da’ and ‘Autumn leaves’. The children had the opportunity to make leaf prints and pictures using different seeds. This week our theme was, ‘The Little Red Hen’. In morning circle, we enjoyed using the animals to tell the story together. We also tried to grind some wheat to make flour; just like the Little Red Hen. We sang ‘Old MacDonald’ and were fantastic at making animal noises. Continuing our Oktoberfest theme, as the weather was too wet and cold to visit the Wiese, we celebrated Oktoberfest in the Kindergarten with Bretzel eating challenges, dancing and strength competitions! This week our theme was Oktoberfest. In morning circle, we talked about the very first Oktoberfests and how different they are now. We also talked about all the delicious food you can eat there. This week our theme was sharks. We were able to describe what a shark looked like and where they live. In morning circle our hungry shark ate the fish and we practiced our subtraction skills. This week our theme has been airplanes. In our Morning Circle we talked about the very first airplanes and how they tried to look more like birds. We also played some games using prepositions to describe where the airplane was e.g. above, below, next to… We have started to introduce the letters again using the songs and actions from Jolly Phonics. This week our theme has been hands. In our Morning Circle we talked about how important it is to wash our hands carefully to keep healthy and sang a little song ‘Wash, wash your hands’. This week we continued our theme, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We finished the story and talked about butterflies. In Morning Circle we learnt a super song in German, ‘Der Kleine Raupe Nimmersatt’. We also did lots of counting, ordering numbers and matching letters to their initial sound. We painted some very pretty butterflies and talked about symmetry and started to decorate the mini-house.
